17th Century Farmhouse and Barn Conversion: Sneak Peak at Hampshire farmhouse

March 2018

Hampshire farmhouse is a very private and peaceful spot surrounded by farm and parkland.

Parts of the house date to the 1640s. We were very excited about the opportunity to preserve some beautiful historic details and juxtapose with contemporary forms and materials. After a detailed planning and conservation area proposal we won all consents to reconfigure and refurbish.

By removing the first floor of the threshing barn we expressed its magnificent volume.

We raised and maintained the exposed beams and trusses and refurbished all original hardware.

This project was a perfect opportunity to play our favourite game of juxtaposing contemporary elements with period and historic details.

Soon we will be sharing photos of this wonderful project.
