During the process of our Chelsea Crescent project, we came up against a problem regarding the spare room and we’re still rather pleased with the solution so we thought we would share.
Our client wanted her spare room to satisfy many different functions, such as being a Reiki treatment room, also work as a reception for her clients. She also wanted storage space for an overflow of clothes, an extension of her own bedroom and a spare bedroom for a guest.
With some modification, re-spray, timber trim and new handles we’ve turned an inexpensive day bed – IKEA Hemnes – into a decent double bed.
Ikea Hemnes – a sofa, a single bed, a double bed and storage in one piece of furniture.
Behind the day bed we hid deep clothes storage and by designing a sliding pocket door between the master bedroom and this spare room we extended the master whilst maintaining privacy for guests and clients when closed.
